Falcon Development announced that its upcoming title Cattails: Wildwood Story is all set to pounce its way to Steam on October 20. While waiting, everyone is invited to try the demo and experience the first season of the game. The free demo is available until September 20.
Development of the game started in September 2019 with a Kickstarter campaign ending in May 2022 having more than $240,000 in backer support, which was over 800% than what was initially requested. A small and closed beta playtest was then conducted and after than monthly updates were released which saw new features, stretch goals, and even some surprises along the way.
Lead developer Tyler Thompson revealed that after four years of development, they're finally ready to welcome players to the game. This is the second title in the Cattails series.
A Kitty Cat
In the game, players get to create their very own feline furry. They get to roam across the lands of the Wildwood hunting for prey and foraging for herbs. At the same time, they'll need to attract new cats to be residents of their town. As they get to know more about the neighbors, there's the chance of falling in love and maybe raising a litter of kittens.
Protect the Settlement
However, a dark presence suddenly threatens this new home and players need to rise up to the challenge and remove the corruption that's at the heart of Wildwood. Voidling Cats for example have started to appear in great numbers and have become a problem for the settlement. While it’s important to stand firm versus these enemies, the settlement has brave cats that’s not afraid to help stem the tide. It won’t be enough to just defeat them, and players need to learn more about the mystery of where they came from and ultimately put an end to the threat.
Coat Studio
There’s a lot of features to enjoy and one of these is the Coat Studio. This can be used anytime and allow players to update the appearance of their cat and come up with a character that’s truly unique. There are different body types, colors, and even accessories to choose from. Players can mix and match to get what they want and then share those creations with other players.
