The official launch of No Rest for the Wicked is just a few days away. The game is set to arrive on Steam Early Access this April 18 and to be available for $39.99. However, for the first two weeks after its release the game is being offered at an introductory price of $35.99.
The game is all thanks to Moon Studios. This is the game group responsible for titles like Ori and the Blind Forest as well as Ori and the Will of the Wisps. By the way it's worth noting that according to the studio, the game won't have any microtransactions. Players should also be happy to know that single player experience won't need an online connection or any anti-cheat software. For the studio, this is a way of providing players with a complete and seamless experience.
Death of a King
The game is set in the year 841 and follow the death of King Harol. As news of his death spread out across the kingdom, his crown is passed on to his arrogant yet untested son Magnus. Making things worse is the return of the Pestilence, an unholy plague which hasn't been seen for a thousand years. As this plague sweeps across the land, it corrupts everything and everyone it touches.
While this is indeed a problem, it's seen as an opportunity for some. This is true for Madrigal Seline, a rather ruthless and ambitious figure in the church, who believes that the Pestilence could be a chance to prove herself in the eyes of her god.
All of these continue on the backwater Isola Sacra, where rebel groups and the provincial government continue to fight for control.
Fight the Pestilence
Players take on the role of Cerim, a member of a group of mystical holy warriors that's been given remarkable powers and fights to defeat the Pestilence at any cost. Despite being rather straightforward, this task proves to be challenging as players start to be entangled in the plight of the people and the vast political struggle of the land. As players try to cleanse the land of wickedness and shape the fate of the kingdom, chaos is present to pull them in every direction.
