Developer Impossible Home announced that its upcoming title Whimel Academy is coming out in the fourth quarter of 2024. If that feels too long, don't worry. A demo of the game is set to be available during the Steam Next Fest happening later this month.
Whimel Academy offers a slow-paced time manager and is set at a fantastical school where witches, wizards, and budding mages attend. Once they receive the acceptance letter from the academy to start in the fall semester, they can immediately get themselves acquainted with the place through the campus map. There's also a journal available which should be helpful especially in the first week. The low-stakes gameplay ensures for a relaxing experience.
Explore the World
The campus actually has a lot of locations that players can unlock and explore. The library is where they get to browse the shelves and do some reading. Then there's the dining hall where players can socialize with the peers. Meanwhile the garden is a good to just take a walk and relax. Indeed, there are a lot of things to do in the game. Once the day is over, they can take a rest in the dorm and prepare for a new day of adventure.
As they start to get accustomed to the campus, players eventually get to know their fellow student. There's a diverse set of in-game characters and each comes has unique interests and personalities. However, all of them are going to be excited to meet the players. Interacting with these students results in the friendship level being increased and in turn create more chance for meaningful conversation.
Hard Work Pays Off
Like a real academy, extracurriculars are available and continue to be an integral part of life at the academy. There are various part-time jobs available around the campus where players can earn not only money but also stat points which can be utilized to different specialties. Tasks include doing research in the astronomy tower, growing new plants in the garden, or shelving books in the library, to name a few. Wages earned can be exchanged for different items which include a sweet treat, a new book, or accessories for the dorm like a cauldron or record player.
However, when doing work it's important to keep a close watch on the energy level and head on over to the dorm to rest when needed.
