The latest major content update of For The King II is now available on all platforms. One of the highlights is the return of Dungeon Crawl mode to the game.
This mode sidesteps the campaign formula that's present in the seven existing chapters. As a result, it allows for that replayable roguelite experience. This means that for each new session, the party gets to explore an entirely new overworld. There are a total of five dungeons across the random selection of biomes.
Difficulty Mode
With the return of Dungeon Crawl, developer IronOak Games revealed in a post that they're also adding the Dungeon Crawl Gauntlet. This challenge mode follows a monthly seed with players being able to compete with static factors like map, dungeons, and bosses. It allows for an equal playing field when competing for the spot at the top of the leaderboard.
Meanwhile, those looking for a slower pace can choose the three difficulty options that's found across the game along with the accompanying difficulty sliders. This lets players experience the more rogue-lite focused mode that's tailored to the challenge they’d like to square up against.
The studio went on to say that Dungeon Crawl Gauntlet runs need to be finished before the monthly seed refresh to count toward the Leaderboard.
Level Cap Increase
Since the Dungeon Crawl Gauntlet gives more focus on providing a replayable free-form adventure, the studio shared that it resulted in expanding the level cap that's available in the mode. In the base game, adventurers are capped at level 9. However for Dungeon Crawl, players can increase their character level all the way up to level 12.
For The King II brings players back to the fantastical land of Fahrul. This time around, they'll need to end the tyrannical reign of Queen Rosomon, who has turned against her subjects and allied with malevolent forces. For The King II features a blend of various gameplay styles as it combines elements of roguelites and tabletop games. Overall, it's not just the next installment in a successful series but rather a refinement of the mechanics of the first game and combined with innovative features designed to enhance gameplay. For The King II is available on Steam.
