RPG Gamers summary

After the success of their popular RPG title, For The King, IronOak Games has announced a new installment in the series, For The King II. The new title, set to be released on November 2nd, is currently open for exclusive pre-purchase on Steam.

For The King II continues in the fantastical land of Fahrul. This time, players set out on an adventure to end the tyrannical reign of Queen Rosomon, who has turned against her subjects and allied with malevolent forces.

The game features a blend of various gameplay styles, combining elements of roguelites and tabletop games. The adventuring seems to be as harsh as ever, offering a procedurally generated map that promises every play-through will have a fresh challenge, yet uses familiar dice roll-inspired mechanics for encounters and combat.

One of the key features of For The King II is the accessibility to different players. Anybody can pick up the game and start playing, but it will take skill, patience, and strategic excellence to master it. The game shines in its replayability, presenting over 30 hours of gameplay divided into 5 adventures, each connected through narrative.

Players can create their own party from 12 unique character classes, each with their own distinct perks, strengths, and play styles that allows for endless strategy possibilities in facing the daunting Queensguard.  Additional resources like mercenaries and wild beasts can also be recruited to bolster our heroes’ strength.

For The King II supports both single-player and up to four-player co-op mode. Solo players can take full control of all characters in their party, while co-op requires coordination and negotiation with teammates.

The game takes inspiration from turn-based classics, introducing a new Battle Grid mechanism where the player’s movement and position vastly affect the battles, adding a strategic depth not seen in the previous title.

The captivating art style of For The King II brings Fahrul’s diverse biomes to life, engulfing the player in vibrant forests, volatile lava-filled wastelands, and tropical seas teeming with fierce Merlings.

For The King II is not just the next installment in a successful series. It looks to be a refinement of the first game’s mechanics, combined with innovative features designed to enhance gameplay. The beloved RPG promises to take you on a new adventure with unexpected challenges at every corner. We look forward to its official release and the new experiences it is sure to deliver.
