It's time to start the hunt as Dragonkin: The Banished is now on Steam Early Access. The game is currently being offered at a 20% discount for a limited period.
The game is set in a world that's been corrupted by the blood of dragons. It's a place where evil creatures have risen from the entrails of the earth. Players get to choose one of the legendary hero classes and each one has a single mission and that is to hunt down and destroy the draconic creatures. Each battle brings players closer to their ultimate goal of finding and eliminating the terrifying Dragon Lords.
Playable Classes
For Early Access, players can try out three playable classes which are Knight, Oracle, and Barbarian. Each of the classes brings to the game their own unique skills. According to developer Eko Software, the plan is to eventually expand each class by introducing additional active skills.
Wyrmlings
Players can also choose from the four types of Wyrmlings. Each of these serve as a specialization for the characters of the players. In addition, each one has its own skill tree and skills. The four types are Fire, Ice, Electric, and Toxic.
Ancestral Grid
Another feature is the Ancestral Grid. These are fragments of varying rarities. A Fragment is composed of one to five hexagons with each hexagon containing:
- A character's skill or Wyrmling's skill: One per Fragment (a fragment can come without any skill).
- One or more modifier(s): which enhance skills using a “Keyword” system.
Story and Endgame
During the prologue, players can take on the role of either Knight, Oracle, and Barbarian. The studio said that there's a Tracker but is currently being worked on and for now can't be played outside of the prologue.
Then when they start Chapter 1, players begin as a young recruit of the Dragon Hunters at level 1. This is where their journey officially begins.
While there's not much in Early Access, players do get access to endgame content. One of these is the Hunt Board which offers unique rewards. The Hunt Board offers different hunts for draconic creatures. Each hunt comes with its own settings along with different durations, modifiers, difficulty levels, and rewards. Hunts from the Hunt Board are replayable though rewards can only be obtained once.
Then there's Chaos Hunts. In this one players get to create their own hunts using parameters unlocked on the board.
