With the holidays just around the corner, it's good to know that Born of Bread is finally out of the oven. Get ready for a tasty adventure on the PC at $24.99. Meanwhile, version for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch are being offered at $29.99. The Steam and Switch editions in particular are being offered at 10% for the first week after launch.
Born of Bread is a home-cooked turn-based role-playing adventure which offer fun characters and charming stories which both adults and children can enjoy. The story introduces players to a land where beings from another age are causing havoc and their mischief has now become a threat for everyone. An unlikely hero comes through Loaf, a golem that's born of bread and possesses a never-ending childlike wonder. He finds himself, along with friends, in the middle of a drama that seems to be thousands of years in the making.
Players are invited to explore a world that’s ripe with mysteries which include the enigmatic ruins of the Forest of Roots and all the way to the freezing landscapes of Frosty Flats. Through the help of their buddies, players not only get to fight against menacing baddies but also engage in quirky and fun turn-based and real-time hybrid combat.
Talking about the game, WildArts Lead Designer and Programmer Nicolas Lamarche shared in a statement that this title is a perfect holiday game with the combination of charming characters, a lengthy adventure, hilarious gags, and culinary puns. He added that it basically captures the fell of the classic RPGs of the 90s. Lamarche went on to say that this title is their ode to the games that they played during the holidays in their childhood.
Head of Publishing for Dear Villagers Guillaume Jamet meanwhile revealed that when they first saw the game, they "knew it was a keeper." He also said that not only did it make them laugh immediately but also surprised them with the combination of strong visual identity, incredible writing, and the addictive action-based take on turn-based combat.
