Prepare to experience the Bakumatsu era as Rise of the Ronin is now available for the PC via Steam. The game is set in 1853 Japan and puts players in the role of a ronin.
After three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s reign, the Black Ships of the West have descended on the borders. This has resulted in the country falling into a state of turmoil. However, amidst all of the chaos of war, disease, and political unrest, a nameless warrior forges their own path and holds the very fate of Japan in their hands.
As a nameless warrior, the destiny of the players evolves on the choices that they make. They get to meet historical figures and factions, each one having their own ideologies. For example, there's Ryoma Sakamoto, who's the anti-shogunate faction leader. There's also Isami Kondo, who leads the shogunate-affiliated organization known as the Shinsengumi. All of these enhance the experience of being in the tumultuous Bakumatsu period. Players get to face significant decisions like whether to protect or assassinate certain key figures. With the multi-ending, they'll be able to craft their very own history.
Steam Version
Rise of the Ronin was first released in 2024 and available for the PlayStation 5. While the release to the PC may have been done a little later, it has its own exclusive features. The Steam version for example comes with:

Customization
The game has players choose different melee weapons like the katana, spear, and even odachi. Each one allows for distinct combat styles. They can freely combine these based on enemies' weapons and their own combat style, which result in a wide range of tactics. There are also ranged weapons that include guns and bows that players need to use strategically according to the situation.
Players can also customize their characters. From the facial features, hair, and makeup and all the way to their body shape and voice, the protagonist. As they progress through the story, players can obtain new clothing and gear to customize their appearance further.
