Guild Wars 2 Invites You to Try Out the Fashion Templates

Get ready to express yourself as Fashion Templates are now available in Guild Wars 2. To celebrate the launch of this latest feature, all players get to receive an in-game mail with free Transmutation Charges that they can experiment with the system.

What this new feature does is allow players to save cosmetic appearances for their armor, outfit, weapons, backpacks, and dyes to templates. These templates can then be swapped between on the fly. All players get access to two free template slots by default. Additional template slots can be purchased in-game for 600 gems through the Black Lion Trading Company. Players can have a maximum of nine extra slots.

Transmutation Charges

While Fashion Templates are free to apply, players need to use Transmutation Charges if they want to save a cosmetic skin to a Fashion Template. However it works is that a Fashion Template is first edited at no cost. It is then saved, which costs a Transmutation Charge for each piece of equipment to be updated in the template itself. Once that's done, players can then be freely applied to the equipment until it is edited and saved again. If a piece of equipment that the character has equipped is of legendary quality, saving a new cosmetic appearance for that item in a Fashion Template won't cost Transmutation Charges.

Meanwhile, if a Fashion Template includes the appearance of a weapon, or any piece of equipment, that they are not currently wielding, that appearance won't be applied.
