Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure Expansion Now Available

It's big day for everyone in Guild Wars 2 with the Secrets of the Obscure expansion now available. Players get the chance to catch up with old friends while making new ones. Everyone is going to have their strength tested especially in the fight against the Kryptis forces that’s from the Mists.

This new expansion introduces the Weaponmaster Training and the relic system allowing players to master those new build combinations. Other new content includes the addition of two new zones which focus on aerial exploration. Helping players with this is the method of obtaining skyscale mount being streamlined and the new Flight Training Masteries. Two new Strike Missions are available as well along with new events, new rewards, and new challenges.

New Content Release

The release of the new expansion marks the start of a new model when it comes to releasing expansion content. The story launched today continue across the next three major releases which comes with, among others, system updates, additional rewards, new instanced combat encounters, and new weapon proficiencies.

Celebrate the Anniversary

The release of Secrets of the Obscure almost coincides with the eleventh anniversary of the game which is on August 28. To commemorate this upcoming milestone, players can look forward to birthday presents, which is set to be distributed based on character age. Then there's also the Black Lion Trading Company sales.

A more "formal" celebration of the game and the new expansion meanwhile is happening September 1 over at the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle. This is a free event so fans should look forward to it.

Roadmap Updates

Aside from the Secrets of the Obscure expansion, there are also other content releasing for this quarter. There's the Halloween festival and the return of bonus events much like those available during End of Dragons. Then there are the changes to the gameplay systems which involve updates to the skills and for WvW. All of these is happening between August and October.
