Developer Springloaded announced that they're working on a new multi-layered management sim which is set within the world of game development. Dubbed as Let's Build a Dungeon, it has players run their own game studio while creating a MMORPG. The game is going to be available for both PC and Xbox.
Running a Game Studio
To run a game studio, you'll need to have employees. To start staffing that dream studio, you'll need to go over the resumes of hundreds of potential applicants. Don't limit yourself to programmers as you'll also have to bring in artists. Planners also play an important role so be sur to have that as well.
Once that groundwork is done, it's time to manage those development schedules, advertise campaigns, and develop relationships with the press. All of these are needed to grow the studio from a scrappy indie team and all the way into a development juggernaut. You'll also need to make important decisions like whether you're willing to risk financial ruin to release that perfect game.
Designing a Game
You may be a fledgling MMORPG developer but at the end of the day it's all about building a fantasy world that makes sure that virtual players are hooked. Be sure to welcome those same players into the game world and see them go on adventures. Make sure to design an expansive adventure that's filled with quests, towns, monsters and of course, dungeons.
Building a World
You may be building a RPG for players but don't forget that there are different kinds. For example, you can come up with a monster catching game or maybe have players chill with a farming simulator. You can even offer a game which features a magic-fueled action adventure. Anyway, no matter what it is you build, build it your way using thousands of objects, environments, characters and enemies to choose from.
Once everything is ready then it’s time to hire those testers to remove the bugs in the game.
What do you think? Can you build a game that fans are going to love? You can wishlist Let's Build a Dungeon on Steam now.
