Level Cap in Borderlands 4 Increased to 60 with New Update

A new update has been released for Borderlands 4 and it introduces a change that a lot of players have long waited for. The Level Cap has been increased 10 levels resulting in the max level now at 60. It should be interesting to see how players take advantage of these additional levels across characters.

Shared Character Progression

Players should be happy to know that Shared Character Progression is finally here. Collectibles, Activities, Big Map Progress, SDU tokens, Vault Powers, Vehicle skins, and Hover Drives are now all part of the Shared Character Progression. Making things even better is that players don't need to do any action. That's because it automatically applies to all of their characters. For those who found different collectibles on different characters, those all combine.

Meanwhile for Multiplayer, players only have the map discovered for the areas they themselves have explored. In addition, deleting all character saves does not reset progress. For example if a player deletes all previous characters, a new character can still have all previous map progress.

Gameplay Changes

There are also some interesting changes introduced to the game as a result of the update. These include:

  • Vault Hunters no longer lose their hands or weapons when grabbing items while swapping guns.
  • Players who travel from The Fadefields to Upper Dominion now save their location correctly and won't accidentally find themselves back in the main part of Dominion when playing alone.
  • Weapons no longer disappear after replaying a mission.
  • Action Skill animations now play at the correct times during the Elpis mission in the Phase Dimension.
  • Players no longer get stuck on a loading screen if a travel request is canceled while players are near a map exit in multiplayer.
  • The camera now stays in the right spot when players swap to a Heavy Weapon immediately after using a Grapple Point—no more clipping through their big guns.
