New Update for Last Epoch Opens Up The Ancient Era

Season 3 of the Last Epoch is finally here. It opens up the expanded Ancient Era which invites players to explore new environments. There are also unique and new monsters to encounter.

The Environment

Throughout Season 3, players get the chance to navigate across forests, climb up the side of a snow-swept mountain, and navigate underground, to name a few. During their journey, players uncover a Crystal Mine that's been excavated by the people of Maj’elka. However in the Ancient Era, these are untouched and full of life like the strange crystal-infused creatures.

Players need to keep in mind that the power of Eterra is the power of life itself and just as unpredictable. Even the plants of the Ancient wilds grew strong with her power and they came to embody not just life’s aspect of creation, but also its aspect of ferocity and danger.

The Creatures

A new environment means that there are new monsters to encounter. This is a predator’s paradise and players encounter violent sentient foliage, dinosaurs, and enormous insects, to name a few. Wild and savage dinosaurs roam the lands freely that include the vicious Raptors and Tyrannosaurs looking for their next meal.

The mountains meanwhile have a massive hive filled with the Draal. They are a highly aggressive, intelligent, and expansionist species of insects.

Updates Visuals

In a post, the development team revealed that to bring the environment of the Ancient Era to life, they've been hard at work improving visuals across all of Eterra. They're excited to see the reactions of the players to the visuals of the Ancient Era. They can now catch flocks of wildlife flying overhead along with a newer system to help give a breath of life into the world.

The game has been given updated water shaders to improve the visual detail in Eterra. Players are sure to notice schools of fish exploring under the surface of the water.
