New Update for Norland Makes Changes to Economy and Politics

The "Big Summer Update" for Norland is finally here. It introduces a lot of changes to the game and these include the overhaul to the economic and political mechanics.

New Economy

In a post, developer Long Jaunt shared that some of the features in the game may have looked odd to a lot of players. That's because they served as placeholders. That said, with the new update, lords now have gold and this ties them to the main economy. What this also means is that all tasks and rewards are now valued in gold.

Lords independently buy rings that can then be used for gifts. The development team is working so that other luxury items are added aside from rings.

The Politics

The new update also makes changes to the politics mechanics. The studio revealed that this is still a work in progress and should improve significantly over the next couple of weeks.

That said, one or two lords on the local map can now become politicians if their loyalty drops. They can then spend their money to gain influence among other lords, warriors, the bishop, and even neighboring kings. For those who decide to fight with the king, it results in them demanding the crown and threatening a rebellion with their allies.

Hostile lords on the other hand no longer bribe every lord indiscriminately but instead target politicians specifically. If politicians rebel, hostile lords then send armies to aid them. By the way, the ambitions of the politicians give them a 30% bonus to experience gain. Which means they're very useful as long as relations are good.
