Prepare to Descend into Depravity When Sultan’s Game Launches March 31

Developer Double Cross Studio announced that its twisted narrative-driven card-based RPG Sultan's Game is releasing on the PC via Steam this March 31. A demo of the game is currently available on Steam.

The game had asked for assistance through crowdfunding and was able to raise $275,000 in the first week. In a statement, Producer and Developer Yin Li shared that the title is finally releasing and they thanked the community for "the overwhelming support." He added that both long-time supporters and newcomers can hopefully experience the turbulent world of the Sultan once the game comes out.

Perform Despicable Acts

The game has players descend into depravity as they take on the role of Sultan’s courtier and indulge the monarch’s cruel game. They get to draw one of four dark categories of cards every seven days and each one demands despicable acts. They can:

• seek pleasures of the flesh with Carnality

• spend beyond good sense with Extravagance

• venture into perilous adventures with Conquer

• provide human sacrifices when drawing Bloodshed.

Those who fail to complete that challenge posed by the card in one week get to suffer fatal consequences.

Experience the World

In the game, players get to explore the world which includes the seedy alleyways and brothels and all the way to the Sultan’s Palace and Religious Temples. They can test if they have what it takes to survive against rabid dogs, fierce lions, dreadful demons, or even those majestic dragons.

Along the way, they can obtain resource cards like Gold, Convictions, and Nobles. They can then spend them to persuade citizens and sway the royal court. Players also have to build intelligence and equipment while at the same time complete NPC quests to recruit allies. They'll also have to expand influence to ascend from pawn to power broker.

In Sultan’s Game, players are challenged to see if they can rise to become a master manipulator. What starts as a life-or-death trial can eventually turn into an opportunity to accumulate influence and power. For example, a political rival could become a fitting sacrifice for a Bloodshed card. They may also need to turn an out-of-reach prospect into a new spouse through Carnality.
