Release of Fretless - The Wrath of Riffson Delayed to Summer

The release of Fretless - The Wrath of Riffson has been delayed. It was originally planned to come out this May 22 but now pushed to summer. It's going to be available for the PC via Steam.

According to a statement by the development team over at Ritual Studios, the delay was to make sure that they'll be able to polish the game and thus make sure that it offers the best possible gaming experience for players.

Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson is a turn-based RPG where players get to wield powerful legendary instruments and gather mighty riff attacks in order to save the land from the devilish goons and musical hybrid monsters of Rick Riffson.

Players take on the role of the friendly musician Rob who’s trying to restore harmony in an off-tuned world where wacky villains are corrupting music. Rick Riffson, boss of the evil Super Metal Records company, is using the Battle of the Bands contest as a way to extend his hold on every last note, chord, and song by trapping the best musicians with deceptive soul-binding contracts. Players go on an adventure with Rob and his zany rock-loving friend to end the plans of Super Metal Records.

While there is a delay in the release, fans can breathe easy knowing that there's already a lot of reasons to be excited about the game. Back in April for example, it was reported that Yvette Young and Mary Spender were going to be part of the OST. They joined the likes of Northlane, Andrew Huang, Davie504, Cult of Luna, and Rabea Massaad.

Then later in April, it was revealed that King Yosef and Ola Englund were added to the list of artists involved in the game.

The Fretless Vinyl

The studio also announced that they'll be releasing the official Fretless Vinyl. It features two yellow and red marble vinyls which are then placed in a Gatefold sleeve in the colour of the game. There's also a matte texture along with an embossed and glossy effect on the main logo. Meanwhile, each inner sleeve also has its own design. There's a total of 22 tracks available.
