Sengoku Dynasty was launched to Steam Early Access last week. So far it seems reception to the game has been good with mostly positive reviews. The game offers an open-world RPG that's mixed in with city builder along with life simulation and added with a dash of survival elements. It's set in feudal Japan where players try and survive the turbulent times to build their very own dynasty.
While it's still been about a week since the game became available, developer Superkami revealed the roadmap and what players can expect for early access. It's divided into five phases and begins with "First Steps." This is basically getting feedback from the players, introducing bug fixes, and improving the game's quality-of-life. The big changes start at the second phase which is "Planting Seeds." In this one, players can look forward to taking on new quests along with being introduced not only to a new NPC village but even the agriculture system.
The third phase is “Personal Growth”, and the focus now shifts to deepen the game’s character progression. That means features like status effects and perks being introduced. Spirituality is also going to be explored even more with players getting to have more variety in terms of shrines. The goal is for players to have more a personalized and strategic gameplay as they progress.
Another big change comes during the fourth phase which is the “Hero’s Journey.” Big in the sense that a female character is going to be added as well as new starting character classes. This should not only give the character pool more diversity but also allow for new possibilities when it comes to gameplay.
Finally, there’s the fifth and final phases know as “Future Focus.” New enemies, weapons, and fighting techniques are to be introduced during this period which means combat becomes more complex. Giving it that element of unpredictability is the addition of randomized events. However, it’s not really going to be a problem for those who just want to enjoy the build part of the game since they can always choose to do that.
While not mentioned in the different phase, it goes without saying that players can expect to see map regions being added somewhere down the road. However, it won’t be simply a new map area since it’s going to bring with it new villages, additional storylines, and more quests.
