A playable demo for the STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R has been released. It’s available for the PC through Steam and consoles PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The demo lets players experience the game’s opening hours, which is confirmed to be part of the final version. Any progress made on the demo version can be carried over to the main game when it’s launched on November 2.
The demo gives players an in-depth look in the prologue of the game where they get to choose their character. They also get to join fights with three party members and experience new features “Break” and “Assault Action.” This demo also comes with three cities, two dungeons, and even two bosses.
The game is a 2.5D remake of the 1998 RPG title and second installment of the STAR OCEAN franchise. By combining 2D pixel characters with 3D environments, the game offers a classic RPG feel with a modern gameplay experience. There are also a lot of quality-of-life improvements, new difficulty settings, and rearranged soundtrack. All of these changes result in the features that fans loved in the original game to be revitalized. For the new title, players can look forward to a deep skill system and fast-paced and real-time combat. Another interesting new feature are Private Actions where players get to grow the relationships they have with party members and result in unlocking different endings.
The game set in Space Date 366 where a Federation officer has been transported to a mystical planet. As he looks for a way home, he meets a young girl who asks him to save her people, as foretold in an ancient prophecy.
Pre-orders for the physical and digital standard editions of the game are now available. Those who pre-order can get to enjoy cool digital content that include the Pangalactic Federation Longsword and Forest Knuckles.
Meanwhile, those who buy the game before November 16 can obtain other bonuses. These are the Sunrise Ring and the Set of recovery items which contains Mixed berries x20 and Resurrection Potion x20.
