Larian Studios announced that it is conducting a new stress test for Baldur's Gate 3. This is for the upcoming Patch 8 to be released for the game. The stress test is set to go live this January 2025 and available for players on the PC via Steam and consoles PlayStation and Xbox.
The studio shared that the goal of the stress test is just that. This is to rigorously test the latest version of the game to determine if there are any instability or issues to the gameplay, especially before Patch 8 is released. One of the features being tested is cross-play. The studio admitted that it has not been easy to implement this and this is why they need the help of players to test this new feature.
Being tested as well are the mods. Now while the support mods continue to have no issues, the studio said that the stress test is also a way to determine how the mods interact with the new features being planned to be part of Patch 8.
For those interested to be part of the stress test, they’ll need to register here. Now while it is indeed available for the PC via Steam, it won’t be accessible to those on GOG and even players on Mac. Meanwhile for those on the Xbox console, they’ll have to register first on the Xbox Insider Programme here and then download the Xbox Insider Hub App.
