Nexon announced that the 20th anniversary for MapleStory is to be held under the name "Maple Con LA." The scale is planned to be bigger with the content being more diverse that should appeal to even more people.
Chief Product Officer Hanbyeol Oh shared that last year's MapleStory Fest was a huge success mainly due to the "enthusiastic support" of the community. At the same, they also obtain constructive feedback. It is this feedback that resulted in the development team implementing different enhancements and improvements. For this year's event, the plan is to design a new space and develop content. The infrastructure is also being expanded to offer a more immersive experience.
Hanbyeol Oh revealed that because of how big the upcoming event is planned, it meant that the budget needed is higher compared to the previous years. The studio revealed that while they want to ensure that the quality of the event is maintained, they also want to minimize the burden placed on those who want to attend the event. As a result, they'll be looking into different solutions with partners to secure additional budget. However, the studio cautions that one impact would be that the price of the ticket this year would be a bit higher. While this is sure to be disappointing to a lot of those who are excited to attend the event, Hanbyeol Oh is asking for the "kind understanding" of everyone.
Detailed ticketing information is to be released through a microsite within the official website tomorrow, August 18. Ticket sales start on August 22.
Other plans revealed are the introduction of a public test server and the status of the interactive world merge. Read more about what Hanbyeol Oh shared here.
