The Demons Told Me to Make This Game is now available in Early Access on Steam. It's being offered at 13% off for a limited period.
This narrative RPG features a darkly comic twist on eldritch horror. It has players take on the role of a disembodied spirit and enter the minds of amateur exorcists. They get to whisper into the thoughts of the exorcists and influence decisions. This is to try and guide them through demonic chaos. While the exorcists always hear the players, whether they listen is another story.
Plans for the Game
Aside from releasing the game, developer Haunted Dude also showed the initial plans they have for this title. The first is to offer full controller support. According to the studio, they're still polishing and testing this feature. However, it's 95% finished. For now, players can only use keyboard and mouse. The studio assured everyone that the game should be fully playable with controllers by the end of July.
Then by mid-August, the studio is giving an update on the game's Steam Deck Accessibility.
A Time Loop
The Demons Told Me to Make This Game is basically a Time Loop game and a cosmic horror narrative adventure that's about demons, monsters, evil cults, bloody rituals, and Elder Gods. Players play as a Dark Wisp. This is a disembodied spirit who is unable to directly interact with the physical world but has the ability to but instead can possess people and speak into their ears, influencing their behavior.
The game is all about Time Loops. The good news is that these loops are broken down into what's known as Time Slots that players can experiment with their interconnected events. In each Time Slot, they'll possess one host while leaving the rest to their own devices. Meaning these others are free to make their impressively bad decisions.
However, keeping the hosts alive won't be easy. To weave a timeline of their survival, players need to see the events from different perspectives and rely on numerous and often cruel experiments. Players have to make their hosts do despicable things and even watch them die over and over again. Thye'lll gain knowledge and wisdom with each instance. Once players have managed to craft the perfect sequence of events, it is then that the loop is completed and the story moves forward.
