XSEED Games announced that the last DLC for Touhou: New World is now available. Dubbed as “Gensokyo Dreaming,” it introduces new content like an original storyline. There’s also new stages and even new bosses. However, the most exciting addition would have to be the eight new playable characters.
Gensokyo Dreaming puts players in the role of the powerful psychic Sumireko Usami. They’re returned to the magical world and now have to travel across Gensokyo gathering allies and then facing the evil spirit Mima. As they make their way forward in the new storyline, players get to unlock eight new characters which they can freely change between one to another while facing new challenges.
Meanwhile, the new stages are sure to test the bullet-dodging skills of the players. These factories that were once used by the kappa along with tops of abandoned trains. Players can even fight on the inside of an abandoned space station.
Countering Enemies
There are a lot of key features to be excited about for this new DLC. One of these are the Shrine Maiden Skills and Magician Moves. You see enemies can release fountains of projectiles. However, these can be countered by dealing heavy damage through spell cards along with dealing powerful blows using exorcism sticks. It’s also possible to slow attacks with well-timed guards.

In the game, players are asked to help the friendly Gensokyo residents by finding lost souls, investigating strange areas, and engaging in mock battles. Of course, they’ll be rewarded handsomely. They might even learn a tip or two that can help them in their quest.

Players can customize their characters to fit their playstyle. Skills can be leveled up through use in battle and essential stats can be upgraded. It’s also important to know that each weapon, armor, and accessory, has randomized stat. That means it’s advisable to mix and match to find that perfect combination.
The Gensokyo Dreaming DLC is now available digitally for the PC via Steam. It’s also available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch. The DLC is priced at $9.99.
