Season 5 of Diablo IV is officially on PTR. The upcoming season is set to feature a new story where enemies are cut down and alliances shift. There are also unlikely friends emerging from the shadows. One of the highlights is the new Questline which is set after the events of the Main Questline and available on both Seasonal and Eternal Realms.

For this new Questline, you'll have to head over to Hawezar in World Tier III and look into a disturbance between the city folk. Those who manage to complete the Questline get to fight against Infernal Hordes, which is the new gameplay activity to be introduced in Season 5.

Slay the Infernal Hordes

The Infernal Hordes is an activity where you get to slay hordes and at the same time earn Burning Aether which allows you to unlock powerful weapons and rewards. Those who can slay the Hordes get to fight the powerful Fell Council. To fight against the Infernal Hordes, you'll need to enter the Realm of Hatred and you can do it by using an Infernal Compass.

Here's some details on the Infernal Hordes:

  • Infernal Hordes have time-limited waves which last 90 seconds each.
  • Collect Burning Aether during a wave to spend at the end of a successful Infernal run.
  • At the end of the 90 seconds, kill the remaining enemies and decide between three Infernal Offers. Once selected, the next wave begins.
  • Successfully slay all waves in the Tier you are attempting to advance to the Well of Hatred then battle the Fell Council.
  • Upon defeating the Fell Council, spend your Burning Aether on Spoils of Hell.

Infernal Offer

As mentioned, every time you defeat a wave, you’ll be tempted with an Infernal Offer. It offers you a choice of three different Boons & Banes that modify your run. An example of an offer is Elites giving increased Burning Aether but at the same time increase their damage.

Remember that Infernal Offers stack across the duration of the Infernal Hordes run. That means a lot of them can be active at the same time so choose wisely.

Season 5 PTR

The purpose of the PTR is to test updates and features before they are launched. Adjustments are then made based on feedback. The PTR for Season 5 starts June 25 and runs until July 2.

You can get Diablo IV on Steam now.
