The Scorpion Update Arrives to Age of Wonders 4

A new update is now live in Age of Wonders 4. One of the additions is the new Customization feature which puts the colors of the rainbow at the hands of the players.

With this feature, players can choose the Custom Color Icon at the end of the available Swatches or switch to the Custom Color Tab. They can pick the exact color they want using Color Space & Hue Sliders, RGB Sliders or Hex Values. The Color Picker is available for the Banner, Skin Color, Hair Color, Armor Color and Metal Color.

Move Speed Normalization

There are also some rather interesting updates to the gameplay. One of these is on the move speed normalization. How it works is that all regular units now share the same number of Move Points on the World Map. This ensures that mixing slower and faster units in a single army no longer reduces the overall travel speed. It allows for higher army diversity and strategy.

Defense & Resistance

The update also makes changes on how Defense and Resistance work across all units. This is to bring them back in line with their original design intent. The new system changes how damage reduction is applied and focuses on the source of damage rather than the type of damage dealt.

Experience

Players should be happy to know that all units now gain XP automatically each turn, even when not fighting. The means armies can continue to improve simply by simply existing and participating in the empire. XP gained from battles has been halved which means Units still get rewarded for combat though fighting is no longer the only reliable way to level up.
