The latest update for Smalland: Survive the Wilds is finally here and it's one that a lot of players have been excited about. The May Taming Update introduces new features and systems to taming mounts like new bonding systems, petting interactions, and creature traits, to name a few. By the way, the update is limited for now to the PC version and it's releasing to console versions soon.

More Tames

One of the features that players can look forward to with this new update is that the taming pool has been expanded to the point that almost every creature in the game are now tamable. These include the likes of Jumping Spiders, Cockroaches, and even Stinkbugs. Overall there are 38 tames in total.

The party size has also expanded with the party budget now at a total of 100. This means that players can now tame and have more than one creature follow them. In addition, they can also have numerous creatures active at once. The value of the creatures is going to be different based on the level and the species.

Bonding and Petting

The new update also introduces a new Bond system. How it works is that players get to enjoy more benefits when the tamed creatures are well cared for. Of course, if the bond hits zero then the creatures may release themselves.

It's now also possible to pet tamed creatures and doing this increases the bond with them. Remember that having a higher bond means the companion can take more damage as well as deal more.

Tame Survivability

Another interesting feature is on incapacitation. You see in the game, "killed" creatures don't really die. When the health of a tamed creature hits zero, what happens is that they become incapacitated until someone or something finishes them off. However, players can also use a revive incense and bring them back to life. Of course, it goes without saying that once an incapacitated creature takes too much damage, it's going to die.

If you're still on the fence whether to get Smalland: Survive the Wilds or not, it's currently being offered at 33% off on Steam.
