A new season is launching in Torchlight: Infinite and sees the permanent addition of the Creation Engine. These are machines guarded by Creation Sentries and found dotted around the map. Those able to defeat them can obtain big rewards.
Anyway, once all enemies have been dealt with, nearby Creation Crystals transform into top quality loot that include the Path of the Brave-exclusive Fluorescent Memory, the legendary chest armour Silent Avowal, or even mystery elixir skill Fluorescent Memory.
Players can also manipulate loot from Creation Engines through Netherrealm Talents. Modest investment turns Creation Engines into buff dispensers. Meanwhile, greater investment results in Whimsical Creation Crystal which has two effects. The first is that it can increase the loot pool by matching two identical crystals. The second is the machines can produce Gold Creation Crystals that chain-activate every crystal within the Creation Engine.
New Progression System
There's also going to be a new progression system that's called Renewed Memories. It makes big changes to traits and builds upon the established Hero Memories system. This new system brings with it Revival, which is a new crafting method that can unlock a power within those memories. The powers include:
- Wax and Wave: increases base value affixes
- Rising Moon: elevates the fixed affix tier
- Lunar Ring: expands the Memory with a set of powerful random affixes
- Young Moon: adds an extra powerful hero trait affix on Ultimate Memories
New Summon System
The new season adds Modularization to the game. This new summon system has players generate a copy of a recently defeated boss and then turn them from enemy to friend on the battlefield for a limited time. While it’s not a direct copy of any given monster, modularized replicas take on a crucial portion of a defeated enemy’s abilities.
There are twenty boss monsters available for Modularization at the beginning of the new season.
Overhauled Potion System
With the addition of Sage, the potion system is being overhauled. In particular, it becomes its own skill type which are Elixir Skills. In the game, standard skills incorporate mana and cooldown. Meanwhile, Elixir Skills run on charge points. In addition, elixir now has three categories which are Tonics for life and mana, Dews for single-stat boosts, and Distillates that contain complex composite effects.
The new season introduces a new mechanic and even a new hero which you can read more about here. Learn more about the upcoming new season here.
Torchlight: Infinite is the fourth title in the Torchlight series. This action role-playing game draws from the lore and high-fantasy setting of previous Torchlight games. It features a more apocalyptic world and unifies its dungeon levels with relatively rigid quest lines. Torchlight: Infinite is available on Steam.
