Upcoming Update for The Elder Scrolls Online to Make Changes on Starter Zones

Update 45 for The Elder Scrolls Online is all set to launch on March 10. Once it goes live, players get the chance to enjoy different improvements to the base game experience. New players also experience something new when they start their adventure in Tamriel. Indeed, the update has something for everyone.

ZeniMax Online Studios shared that some zones are going to get a visual refresh. This is part of their ongoing commitment to make sure that the game is not only modern but also welcoming to players. Five starter zones have been chosen and according to Art Manager Morgan Godat, these represent the next step in the player experience. In addition, since the zones are smaller, they were not only able to bundle up the changes but also release them together.

The zones are Bleakrock Isle, Bal Foyen, Stros M’kai, Betnikh, and Khenarthi’s Roost. All of these zones have received visual improvements and now benefit from the team’s long experience.

Principal World Builder Greg Barley shared that the changes are mainly a cosmetic facelift and they used newer parts and tricks they’ve “learned over the years since the initial game launch.” These include ground and water textures, grasses and flowers, lighting, and some small prop replacements. He went on to say that some locations had their structures updated like the docks or shipwrecks on Khenarthi’s Roost.

Craft Champion Point Improvements

Another change coming is the way the Craft constellation works. This should be noticeable once players reach level 50. According to Senior Systems Designer Cullen Lee, the first thing that players should notice is that there are now some empty slots available. This is because the team took out most of the stars that were becoming a chore to remember and instead made them always active. For example, once players unlock a star like Meticulous Disassembly or Plentiful Harvest, they’ll never have to worry about forgetting to swap their stars around and missing out on rewards ever again.”
