↑ Back to TopThis is a great game! A must have for all RPG players. If you don't do RPG, you may want to try it anyway. It's graphics, sound and almost everything is all very well done.
This is my very first game guide, so I'll willingly accept all the help I can get my hands and legs on. If you have anything you want to be posted in this guide, drop me a mail. If it's really good, I'll put it up and give you all the credits.
Apparently, I don't have all the information on the equipment modifiers and the set items. If you have any of those that I missed, kindly send them to me. I'll give you credits for it.

Skill-1 : Summoning
Skill-2 : Poison and Bone
Skill-3 : Curses
*Strategy: First off, don't train this guy up as a magic user. Train him up as you would train a barbarian, as he'll live longer this way. Skill your level up with either Amplify Damage or the Bone Armor in the beginning. And learn the Clay Golem later on to access the higher level skills, you are not required to have the Skeletons in order to learn the Clay Golems. I'll advise you to put your points on Golem Mastery as it works on all of your Golems and makes them much stronger. By the way, you can only have one golem at anytime, so you better skill up using the Fire Golem and keep the rest of your skills for something else.

*Strategy: Skill up this guy a weapon of your choice (Combat Masteries), then train him up all the way to level 20. You would easily be a force not to be reckoned with by then... There is more, after completing your choice of weapon mastery, continue to increase your skills in Increased Stamina, Increased Speed, Iron Skin and Natural Resistance.

Skill-1 : Defensive Aura
Skill-2 : Offensive Aura
Skill-3 : Combat Skills
*Strategy: Skill up using Prayer (Defensive Aura) and keep to this. After that, when you received a Book of Skill (Act 2) that forces you to learn a new skill, learn Might (Offensive Aura). Basically, you should use Might and switch back to Prayer whenever you are damaged. You should switch skills using the your function keys to change them easily. Works best if you increased both Prayer and Might to its maximum level. Remember that you have to increase your Energy so that you won't run out of Mana easily. Use Healing/Rejuvenation (Potion) when the monsters are dealing more damage than your Prayer can handle.

Warriv: Basically does nothing until the end of Act 1
He is the guy who sends you to Lut Gholein (Act 2)
*You can't get Cain until you rescued him in Tristram. *Can't hire from Kashya until you kill Blood Raven in the Burial Grounds.
Quest 1: Den of Evil
↑ Back to TopAt the start of the game, talk to Warriv
↑ Back to Top- Next, talk to Akara. She'll give you the first quest, Den of Evil.
- Exit the town and to the wilderness, you'll enter Blood Moor.
- You may come across Flavie, but do not go pass her! The Den of Evil is within the boundaries of Blood Moor.
- Enter the Den of Evil and kill anything that moves (excluding yourself).
- There is a unique monster found in the Den of Evil.
- When you killed a certain amount of monster, the quest book option would appear, showing the remaining number of monsters left.
- Just kill everything and return to Akara for the reward, +1 Skill Point.
*Always kills the Shamans first, as they can revive their minions.
Quest 2: Sisters' Burial Ground
↑ Back to TopTalk to Kashya. She'll ask you to kill Blood Raven
↑ Back to Top- Explore the Cold Plains, found on the other side of the map blocked by Flavie.
- There is a Fallen Camp in this map and it's filled with Fallens, Fallen- Shamans and a unique Fallen Shaman, Bishibosh. Kill Bishibosh first, as it can revive the Shamans.
- You'll get two exits and a cave on the Cold Plains. Explore the cave first.
- Proceed on to the Burial Grounds. Start off by walking round the exterior of the map, killing off all monsters you found on the way. Hopefully, this may be enough for you to gain another extra level. By the way, when you level up, all your Life and Mana replenishes to maximum.
- Make your way to the center of the graveyard, where Blood Raven awaits your arrival.
- Ignore all the other monsters. Attack Blood Raven first as she can slowly summon for more undeads.
- After Blood Raven is killed, holy lightning would emit from her body killing off the remaining undeads. Non-undeads are not affected, you'll still have to deal with them personally.
- Return to the Rogue Encampment and talk to Kashya. She'll give you a free Rogue Archer and you'll have the option to hire them from now onwards.
- There are two new areas for you to explore (Crypt and Mausoleum). Both are single level dungeons, and contain a gold chest guarded by a unique monster.
*You can only have one mercenary at any time. *Mercenary can gain experience for your characters. *Maximum level for Rogue Archer is level 10.
Quest 3: The Search for Cain
↑ Back to Top- Talk with Akara. She'll ask you to find Cain who is in Tristram.
- To reach Cain, you'll need to find the Cairn Stones and obtain a Scroll of Inifuss from the Tree of Inifuss.
- The Cairn Stones are found in the Stony Field, but you can't do anything with it yet.
- To get to the Dark Wood, you have to enter the Underground Passage. The Underground Passage consists of two levels, the way to the Dark Wood is on the first level, but the second level contains a gold chest guarded by a unique.
- When you reached the Dark Wood, find the Tree of Inifuss. Search it to get the Scroll of Inifuss.
- Return to Akara with the bark and she'll decipher the runes for you.
- Head for the Cairn Stones (Stony Field) and touch the Cairn Stones according to the sequence.
- A red portal taking you to Tristram would appear.
- Upon entering Tristram, you should walk around the map, slowing killing off the monsters.
- The monsters are quite easy, except for Griswold and a couple of uniques which are harder to kill.
- Try to find Wirt's body. His body contains many treasures and when you collected the whole lot, you can even take along his leg with you!
- Release Cain. If you walked around the map as I suggested, there might not be any monsters left in the Town Center when you are releasing Cain.
- Return to the Rogue Encampment. Cain will now identify items for you, free!
- Remember Wirt's leg? You can't sell it yet, but it has a high durability and also fast attack speed. Can try swinging it at the monsters for fun.
*Wirt's Leg in Diablo 2 is to access The Secret Cow Level. After you beat the game, restart, and combine Wirt's Leg and the Tome of Town Portal in the Horadric Cube, while inside the rogue encampment. Be careful, hell was easy compared to this, as there are some really pissed off cows. -Alakhai
*You can give imbue Wirt's Leg with magic powers. The effects are quite random, but you would usually get quite a good item. If you get an item with socketed ability, you can further upgrade it. -Jayvee
Quest 4: The Forgotten Tower
↑ Back to Top- First, you'll get to find and read the Mouldy Tome, I found it in the Stony Field, but it can be anywhere given the randomness of the game.
- The quest appears after you read the Mouldy Tome, but you enter the Forgotten Tower without reading the Tome either. The Tome just adds up to the story of the game.
- Get into the Forgotten Tower located within the Black Marsh and kill the Countess.
- There is a cave found in the Black Marsh, which contains a gold chest. You may want to explore this cave before heading into the Forgotten Tower.
- The Countess is found on the fifth level of the Forgotten Tower. It is fire enchanted so having equipment with Fire-Resist may be easier.
- There is a chest that's found in the room the Countess is found. It'll open up for lots of money and some items after you killed the Countess.
- There are also two other rooms, which holds large stashes of gold in the same level.
- Lastly, you can only get the Countess's chest to open up the first time you complete the quest.
*Special thanks to Stranax for clearing some of my mistakes.
Quest 5: Tools of the Trade
↑ Back to Top- Talk with Charsi. She'll ask you to find the Horadric Malus from the Monastery Barracks and return it to her.
- Head towards the Tamoe Highland from the Black Marsh.
- There is a Pit, which you can explore in the Tamoe Highland.
- Enter the Monastery Gate.
- From the Gate, you can access to the Outer Cloister.
- And from the Outer Cloister, you can reach the Monastery Barracks.
- The Horadric Malus is found within the Monastery Barracks and is guarded by a Smith (Unique Monster) which is really strong.
- When you finally defeated the Smith, get the Horadric Malus and bring it back to Charsi.
- She'll give you an option to imbue an item that is non-jewelry, non- socketed, non-magical and non-throwing item into a magical one.
- Better cross your fingers and pray for a good item, as the item given is completely random.
*Tips: There is another way to select the items that Charsi gives. (Thanks to Palileo)
- Get the Horadric Malus and give it to Charsi to finish her quest.
- Get the item you want to be imbued (you can go to act 2 and above to get an item and return to Charsi with it)
- Save and exit the game
- Copy the 4 save files of that character into a different directory, which are Name.d2s, Name.key, Name.ma0, and Name.map (Name of your character)
- Give the item to be imbued to Charsi.
- If you don't like the result, exit the game and paste the save files unto the save directory and repeat step 5.
*Tips: By the way, I was reminded that you could use this same method for gambling as well. Anyway, look through the properties of the set equipment from below, and gamble on the things you want to get. You can find set equipment easier this way, and it saves a lot more money too. -Unknown (Email me)
Quest 6: Sisters to the Slaughter
↑ Back to TopOnce you completed the previous quest, talk to Cain
↑ Back to TopHe'll give you the final quest, and that's to kill Andariel
↑ Back to TopFirst, enter the Jail level 1 through the Outer Cloister
↑ Back to Top- From the Jail level 3, you can go to the Inner Cloister.
- Then, from the Inner Cloister you go to the Cathedral.
- And finally, from the Inner Cloister, you can access your final destination, the Catacombs. (Finally, that's over with!)
- Andariel lies within the fourth level of the Catacombs and she has a weakness to fire.
- After killing Andariel, return to the Rogue Encampment and talk to Warriv. He'll bring you to the next town, Lut Gholein.
Act 2: Lut Gholein
↑ Back to TopAtma : Tavern Keeper
Cain : Identify Items
Drognan : Sells Wands, Staves and Scepters
Sells Scrolls and Tomes
Sells Healing Potions
Elzix : Gamble
Sells Weapons and Armors
Fara : Heals and replenishes Mana
Repair Items
Sells Weapons and Armors
Geglash : Tavern Bouncer?
Greiz : Hire Mercenary (Max Level 17)
Jerhym : Lord of Lut Gholein.
Kaelan : Castle Guard, guards castle (Understand?)
Lysander: Sells Various Potions
Sells Keys
Meshif : Captain of Ship, brings you to Kurast (Act 3)
Warriv : Brings you to Rogue Encampment
Head back if monsters are too powerful here
*You can hire from Greiz right from the start. *Cain would continue to identify items for free!
Quest 1: Radament's Lair
↑ Back to Top- When you first reach Lut Gholein, start off by talking to Jerhym.
- He'll give you lots of information and asks you to see Atma.
- Find Atma, and have a chat with her.
- Atma wants you to kill the monster that's found below the sewers.
- Talk to everyone in town and try to remember where everyone is. It's easier this way, as this is a much bigger town and it may take some time if you are looking for a particular person.
- Hire from Greiz when you talk with him. His mercenaries are not cheap, but you should have more than enough gold to spare.
- Go down to the sewers from the trap door found near Greiz.
- You'll enter level 1 of the sewers. There are actually 2 entrances, and either way would get you to the bottom level as they are both connected.
- Radament is on the third level of the sewers. After you kill him, you'll get a Book of Skill that forces you to skill up using a new skill, you'll only get this book the first time you kill Radament.
- There is also a chest found in where Radament is found. Open it to find the Horadric Scroll.
- Talk to Atma after killing Radament. She'll talk with the townspeople and you'll get a discount from now on.
*Strategy: Kill off all four of the Burning Dead Mages, especially the one with poison ability, before heading for Radament. Radament can revive the Horrors, so deal with Radament and ignore the Horrors. *You can talk to Jerhym after completing this quest for access to Quest 6.
Quest 2: Horadric Staff
↑ Back to Top- Bring the Horadric Staff to Cain. This would open up your second quest.
- Exit from the City of Lut Gholein and you shall find yourself on the Rocky Waste.
- On the Rocky Waste, you'll find a Stony Tomb, which consists of two levels. You should explore the Stony Tomb first, as the second level contains a gold chest.
- Next travel to the Dry Hills from the Rocky Waste, there is only one passage.
- You'll find the Halls of the Dead in the Dry Hills.
- The Horadric Cube is found on the third level of this dungeon, and is secured by a gold chest.
- Return to Cain and he'll teach you how to use the Horadric Cube.
- Next you travel from the Dry Hills to the Far Oasis. The Maggot Lair is found in the Far Oasis.
- Enter the Maggot Lair, the Shaft of Horadric Staff (Staff of Kings) is found in a gold chest found on the third level and ColdWorm the Burrower (Cold Enchanted) guards it. It just sits there, so best to move in for the kill as soon as possible as the ColdWorm can lay eggs to more Sand Maggots.
- The Maggot Lair provides an area for easy upgrading of items. Lots of magical items to be found and the enemies are easy too.
*You'll be forced to complete other quests first before you can fully complete this quest.
Quest 3: Tainted Sun
↑ Back to Top- Head for the Lost City. You'll see the sun sets shortly after.
- You'll find a trap door leading you towards the Ancient Tunels. You can choose to ignore the tunnels, or enter it for more experience. There is a gold chest guarded by a few uniques in the tunnel.
- Head for the Valley of Snakes. The Claw Viper Temple is found here, its position is very obvious.
- Enter the Claw Viper Temple and fight your way to the second level. The Tainted Sun Altar is found right in the center. Beware, as there are quite a couple of uniques around.
- Search the Tainted Sun Altar to reveal the Top of Horadric Staff (Amulet of the Viper).
*Mix the Staff of Kings and the Amulet of the Viper together using the Horadric Cube and you shall get the Horadric Staff! (Quest 2)
Quest 4: Arcane Sanctuary
↑ Back to Top- After you destroyed the Tainted Altar, return to town and talk to Drognan.
- Then, talk to Jerhym. He'll let you gain access to his palace.
- Enter the Harem. From the Harem, head for the Palace Cellar.
- You'll find a portal on the third level of the Palace Cellar.
- Enter the portal and you shall reach the Arcane Sanctuary.
- Find and read the Horazon's Journal. Beware, as a Summoner (Quest 5) is guarding the Journal.
Quest 5: The Summoner
↑ Back to Top- You'll get this quest once you come into contact with the summoner.
- Simply just wait for the monsters to come after you, and kill them one by one.
- Finally, move in for the summoner.
- After you killed the summoner, return to Lut Gholein and talk to Cain.
*A bit too short and simple, right?
Quest 6: The Seven Tombs
↑ Back to TopYou'll get this quest way early when you speak with Jerhym
↑ Back to Top- Enter the Canyon of Magi from the portal that opens up after you read the Journal.
- The Canyon contains seven tombs, only the one with symbol of Tal Rasha on the top of the entrance is the true tomb.
- I would suggest you search out the other tombs before heading in for the true tomb. You'll gain more experience and may find better items. Anyway, all the tombs are of one level, and all the fake tombs contain a gold chest.
- After you entered the true tomb of Tal Rasha, search for the Orifice.
- Use the Horadric Staff on the Orifice, and a new passage would open up.
- Be prepared, as once you enter Tal Rasha's secret chamber, you'll meet up the final boss of Act 2.
- The final boss is Duriel (You expecting Baal?). Looks a bit like a mutated maggot, but packs in quite a fight.
- After defeating Duriel, continue along the passage and you'll see Tyrael.
- Talk with Tyrael, he'll give you a short briefing.
- Next go to Lut Gholein and talk to Jerhym, and then Meshif.
- Meshif would bring you to Kurast (Act 3).

- From the Kurast Docks, enter into the Spider Forest. From the Spider Forest, you'll soon get to another part of the map, known as the Great Marsh.
- Kill the unique guarding the way between the Spider Forest and the Great Marsh, and you *should* find a Jade Figurine.
- Return to Cain with the Jade figurine and he'll ask you to see Meshif.
- Give Meshif the Jade Figurine and he'll hand you a Golden Bird.
- Return and talk to Cain. He'll ask you to see Alkor.
- Go talk to Alkor and give him the Golden Bird.
- After the conversation, talk to Alkor again. He'll give you a Potion of Life, which would add 20 Life permanently to your character. *Seems very much like running an errand to me?
Quest 2: Blade of the Old Religion
↑ Back to Top- After you entered the Spider Cavern, go back to the Kurast Docks and talk to Hratli. You'll get the quest.
- Enter into the Spider Forest.
- From the Spider Forest, enter into the Great Marsh.
- There is a gold chest found in the Great Marsh. It is well guarded by monsters and surrounded by a few River Stalkers. You can only kill the River Stalkers with thrown or missile weapons.
- From the Great Marsh, go to the Flayer Jungle.
- Look for the Gidbinn in the Flayer Jungle.
- Kill off all the monsters around the Gidbinn first.
- When you touch the Gidbinn, new monsters would appear.
- There is a unique monster among them, you must kill it to retrieve the Gidbinn.
- Return to the Kurast Docks with the Gidbinn and give the Gidbinn to Ormus.
- Talk to Asheara and she'll give you a mercenary for free.
- Finally, talk to Ormus again and he'll give you a unique ring.
Quest 3: Khalim's Will
↑ Back to Top- This is the first quest you'll get, but you only get to complete it later.
- Once you exit the Kurast Docks into the Spider Forest, you'll get to see the Dark Wanderer. He'll teleport away, and summons a few monsters to attack you.
- Return to Cain after you defeated the monsters and he'll give you the quest.
- Enter the Spider Cavern to find Khalim's Eye. It is found within a golden chest, but it is well guarded by a unique monster ad its minions.
- You may want to explore the Arachnid Lair as well, as it contains a gold chest. A unique monster is guarding it.
- After you get the Eye, return to Kurast Docks and talk to Cain.
- Next, from the Spider Forest, head to the Flayer Jungle.
- You'll come across the Flayer Dungeon. Enter it, and a gold chest found in the third level contains the Khalim's Brain.
- There is also another place called the Swampy Pit. You can explore it to find a gold chest on the third level.
- After you get the Khalim's Brain, return and talk to Cain for more information.
- From the Flayer Jungle, head towards Lower Kurast. A unique monster guards the border.
- Next, from the Lower Kurast, travel to the Kurast Bazaar.
- The Kurast Bazaar contains two sewers. Enter either one will lead you to the same place.
Quest 4: Lam Esen's Tome
↑ Back to Top- After you entered Lower Kurast, return and talk to Cain. This should activate the quest.
*Quest 3/4 and many others are still currently in the processing. I need to go school you know. Can't expect me to write a free walkthrough for 24 hours a day, right?

*Thanks to everyone out there who sent me information on all these set items. But, can you give me the complete information the next time? I had a damn hard time compiling all the information I received, and I really don't know who to give the credits to. Anyway, you know that you had contributed, and I thank you for your kind effort. Thanks a lot! *Anyway, I still cannot find some of the items, so I would still require help. Are there anyone out there quick enough to send me the information? By the way, if the information is compiled wrongly, please send an email to tell me about it. Thanks!
