RPG Gamers summary

4089: Ghost Within is a sci-fi stealth action RPG game that takes the best features of its predecessors 3079 and 3089 and enhances them. The game supports user content and Oculus Rift, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the futuristic world it presents. Players sneak and battle their way through a procedurally generated mothership, hacking cameras, locked doors, and breaking down secret walls to uncover new paths. They can customize characters via stat points, use grappling hooks, special powers, and build walls for cover. The game has a more focused design to get players into the action faster than ever before. With an emphasis on stealth and rogue-like elements, 4089: Ghost Within offers three game modes: “Normal,” “Limited Lives,” and “Permadeath.” Players can also edit or create their own rooms, enemies, weapons, textures, models, and sounds to share with others. For those wanting to create their own content, there is a primer available. Additionally, users who own 3079 or 3089 will find some connection between the worlds in this sequel. The game comes bundled with Java 8, but Linux and Mac users may need to install it separately. 4089: Ghost Within is compatible with OpenVR and has been tested with DK2 and v0.6.0.1, but it may work with older runtimes and other headsets.
