Adeptus is a short role-playing game that was created to demonstrate the capabilities of Conitec Datasystems’ 3D GameStudio game creation suite. The player character is a young man who wants to learn magic, and a sorceress transports him to a strange place where he needs to pass several tests to acquire magic skills.
The game showcases 3D architecture with outdoor and indoor areas, inventory item manipulation (including several puzzles), non-player character interaction with multiple-choice dialogue, combat, and player character level up and skill distribution.
The player needs to first retrieve an item for an NPC from a small dungeon, timing the movement to avoid magic projectiles, then collect several items in the temple and the surrounding grounds, which includes defeating a giant scorpion with a sword. The game ends as the player character finally receives the ability to cast magic and enters a portal back to where he came from.
Conitec made the entire source of the game separately available, and allowed to include any assets from the game in derivative products made with 3D GameStudio.
