After meteorites hit the earth a strange contamination with extraterrestrial spores covers the planet. As people, animals and plants alike start to develop mutations, the humans who are able to escape that fate try to protect themselves by recklessly hunting down the mutants. They construct cyborgs called “Biomeks”, which are immune to the spreading alien disease, to erase them from earth. But the mutants prove to be a hard target: fighting for their lives they react with desperate, yet grim resistance. Finally, the humans decide to use their final resort. While they are covered by tons of steel and rock in massive vaults they initiate the ultimate cleansing of the earth - by nuclear fire.
Here starts the story of the massive multiplayer game Auto Assault. Years after the atomic bombings the humans return to the surface, shielding themselves from radiation and contamination. Mutants and Biomeks have survived and the hate between the factions is still burning. The player may choose one of the factions and a character class out of four.
Unlike the majority of massive multiplayer games, Auto Assault’s main action takes place in huge exterior areas using several kinds of futuristic vehicles for gameplay. Depending on class and faction, the player gets access to various motorcycles, cars and tanks throughout the game which are used to fight against NPC-enemies and other players. By fulfilling quests, gaining money, looting destroyed enemies or even crafting, more equipment can be obtained and added to the car. This includes items like paint or spoilers to customize your vehicle.
Although based on hitpoints, skill levels, damage points and many other typical stats of roleplaying games the gameplay offers faster action by using a mixture of off-road racing and an arcade-style shooter. Additionally to pure weaponry there are many technical and kind of magical skills depending on character class and faction.
