Darkthrop Prophecy is the fourth installment in the Aveyond 3: Orb of Magic series and the sixth game overall. It is a turn-based RPG where players have to solve puzzles and complete tasks, which progresses the storyline and helps the characters level up. The game is shown through an almost top-down perspective. The playable characters are divided into two groups. Stella’s group includes Stella (healer), Edward (prince) and Te’ijal (archer). Mel’s group includes Mel (mage), Uma (light mage), Nox (dark mage) and Yemite (darkling).
After the events of the third game Aveyond: The Lost Orb Mel has gone into hiding after she discovers she can use magic. Darkling creatures also keep popping up and they are convinced Mel will build them a dark empire. Edward, the dethroned prince of Thais finally locates her in the town on Harakauna where she has been hiding. Along with him, Edward has in tow two professors who try and convince her that entering the Shadowood Academy is the best way to ensure her safety, and the safety of the world. In the game players get to marry Edward off to either Stella or Mel.
