DelugeRPG is an online Pokémon fangame in which players may capture, battle, and trade Pokémon. All canon Pokémon, including alternate forms, exist on the site, and it is possible for Pokémon to have special “classes” such as Shiny, Metallic, and Mirage that affect their appearance and battle abilities. One of the main goals on the site is to collect all classes of all Pokémon, totaling well over 5,000 sprites.
To catch Pokémon, the player must wander across a variety of maps, each with their own set of available wild Pokémon. Once a Pokémon has been encountered, the player may choose to battle and weaken it until it can be captured. Pokémon can gain levels and evolve by battling wild Pokémon, AI-controlled teams, and teams owned by other online players. It is also possible to customize a Pokémon’s moveset by spending money earned from trainer battles. All Pokémon can learn all moves, but it is more costly to teach a Pokémon a move of a non-matching type, such as a fire Pokémon learning a water move. Legendary Pokémon can only be encountered on the map after defeating specific groups of NPC trainers.
Players may trade Pokémon with one another using a variety of on-site trading services. Wonder Trade is a matchmaking service in which two online players exchange Pokémon they’ve selected beforehand, without knowing what they’ll receive until the trade is complete. Quick Trade allows players to select which Pokémon they want, and automatically complete a trade if another player has what they’re searching for. Players may also place Pokémon up for trade and wait for offers to come in, then select which one they’d like to accept.
