Game Details

Dungeon Lords MMXII is a remastered version of Dungeon Lords - more specifically, its updated version, the Collector’s Edition. This edition adds co-op mode for up to eight players, has a reworked graphic user interface, features new multiplayer modes, and adds widescreen support. A new type of magic has been added as well; however, unlike the original versions, the player character can no longer learn spells of other magical disciplines unless he joins the correspondent guild. Similarly, thief skills can only be acquired and used if the protagonist becomes part of the Thieves Guild. Class advancement is handled somewhat differently, with the player being able to choose between a pure upgrade and a hybrid each time the protagonist advances to the next tier.

Instead of being able to continuously upgrade the player character with experience points while benefiting from class bonuses, the player is now given three skill points and three attribute points whenever the protagonist levels up. Dying no longer makes the player character lose experience points; attributes are still reduced until a special item is acquired. There is more equipment in the game, and the player is no longer required to identify it. There are no penalties for wearing heavy armor. The overall difficulty is somewhat lower, and the protagonist regains health noticeably quicker; on the other hand, it’s now impossible to rest by fireplaces and hence no way to fast-forward in-game time.
