Final Fantasy: All The Bravest is an action role-playing game in the Final Fantasy series. According to the story, “the gate between dimensions [was] thrown open”, and heroes from all the worlds must unite to defeat the great evil that threatens all. The player controls a party of adventurers, which can have as many as forty characters. The game consists of a series of battles with various enemies from the Final Fantasy saga, including powerful boss monsters.

The combat mechanics resemble the Active Time Battle system from other Final Fantasy games. Each character has an ATB gauge which refills with time, and once it is full the player can tap or swipe across that character to make them attack an enemy and take away some of its hit points. This is the only thing the player can control; each warrior has only one attack and their target is chosen randomly. Once every three hours, a ‘fever’ option appears, which, for a limited time, allows all characters to attack without having to wait to refill their gauges. When attacked, the enemies retaliate; each enemy attack instantly kills one or more party members. Each slain party member takes three minutes to regenerate, though the player can purchase (with real money) hourglasses that grant instant resurrection. After each won battle, the player’s party is completely revived.

Winning battles grants the player experience points; with enough experience, the player levels up and receives additional warriors in his party. The player also randomly finds items which are automatically equipped by the characters, increasing their fighting abilities.

Available in the game are 20 generic characters from various “jobs” known from the Final Fantasy series, such as monk, black mage, etc. With an in-app purchase, the player can also buy one of 35 famous characters (chosen randomly) known from previous installments in the series, which are more powerful than the generic warriors. It’s also possible to purchase new battle locations, known from other Final Fantasy games.
