Final Fantasy Record Keeper is a turn-based strategy game in which the player, as the young scholar Tyro, has to visit artworks from the various Final Fantasy games in order to restore them. By doing so items are unlocked and playable characters from across the Final Fantasy series are recruited to be taken into dungeons to battle foes and boss monsters. Battles take place on a 2D field similar to 8 and 16-bit versions of earlier Final Fantasy games. Each level is divided into a series of battles divided in rounds. The character’s life and ability can only be restored after a level, or by getting recovery items in combat. Battles reward experience points and monsters drop item loots, some of which can be used to upgrade the equipment or special skills like magic spells. For each level, the player can earn mastery rewards by competing certain objectives. A mastered level unlocks a more difficult elite version of that same level. In-app purchases are available (for buying mythril and gems), although such purchases are not required to complete the game.
