It features 2D classic retro-style gameplay on PC and Xbox controllers, with other controllers to be supported soon. It is powered by a fully custom engine for Windows systems, and is a mix of techniques, including pixel art alongside 3D and 2.5D shading techniques, specifically tailored for Desktop systems. Players can tell their own story by using the extensive modding features to quickly create their own game content using included graphics or custom ones. Players can explore a galaxy of powerful alien species and the run-of-the-mill riff-raff, while searching for artifacts and building a deep space station. The game also includes Workshop support, allowing players to customize the game’s content, including graphics, audio, and story, as well as create their own custom levels, characters, and missions.
