Fusion: Genesis is a futuristic 3D twin-stick shooter with MMORPG elements, featuring an “always connected” game world with players populating the world dynamically. The player is placed in control of a space ship, offering solo and co-op quests for up to four players, and player versus player warzones accommodating up to eight players.
The player’s character is a lowly lab assistant who controls a small ship. After his mentor is killed, he is left behind with the ship, a Sentient AI pod hovering around it and a contact at a nearby space station. From there five different factions can be joined. They each come with a different storyline and missions, and allow the character to rank up and gain access to new ships and technology. The game world also offers opportunities to buy and sell cargo, attack ships as a smuggler, or scan ships for illegal items or fugitives, depending on the faction. The main game world can be explored freely and Shift Gates bring the ship directly to the place where missions start. The Sentient sidekicks can be upgraded by collecting debris and by mining from planets. They can also be bought and sold at an auction house. For the multiplayer portion squadrons of up to four ships can be formed to tackle missions together. It also offers a co-operative survival mode, and a PvP arena for the Dominion and Revenant Order factions.
This title links with the Windows Phone game Fusion: Sentient, which allows players to cultivate AI pet units and trade them using the auction house system in the main game.
