Glitch was a short-lived browser-based massively multiplayer online game. The game took place in one large persistent world where the actions of the players could possibly affect every other player in the game. It focused on collaboration between players and was low on combat. By completing quests and doing other activities players could together shape the world in different ways. The player’s character was viewed from a side view and navigation through the world was done like in a platform game with the keyboard while interactions with characters and objects was done with the mouse.
Players could upgrade and customize their characters with the use of imagination. Imagination could be found around the world or acquired by completing quests. With the use of upgrades characters could be customized and improved by enhancing stats, getting one-off abilities that boosted skills and decreased the time to learn new ones. Gathering various things was a central part of the game. Collecting and eating food replenished energy needed for survival. By drinking the players earned mood. The higher the player’s mood, the more imagination would be earned. Players also had their own houses that they could decorate and fill with furniture as they wished. It could then be visited by other players.
