Killing monsters and completing quests are the two main methods of obtaining experience points use for leveling up and improving your character. Weapons, armor, shields, and other accessories not only have unique sprites and colors in your inventory and on the ground when looting - they also are shown on your character when equipped for other online players to see. Helbreath also has an extensive item database with base equipment items having multiple variations, modifications, and other attribute altering conditions.
There are no objectives or predefined goals outside of some loose quest lines which are available, but often locked with a level requirement. It is an entirely open-ended as an MMORPG and can be played regardless of having completed all in-game objectives. Players can pick up fishing, mining, or alchemy. Participate in guilds and other social groups and events like arena tournaments. Gold currency is used for all transactions throughout the game, item-for-item trades aside. Gameplay is very combat-focused with virtually everything outside of combat is ultimately still serving it or sending you back out into it. Player-versus-player is a major component of gameplay.
