Game Details

Troubled 15-year-old dancer Belinda Nettle awakens from nodding off in the library of her Australian private school to find the grounds of Linville Girls High School altered in a strange and sinister fashion.  Everything is dark and hazy, and her classmates are either gruesomely mangled corpses, cowering victims or violent and murderous shadow versions of their former selves.  Spotting the school grounds are sites of foreboding, promising instant (though reversible, for a score penalty) death unless Belinda hides in an appropriate fashion.  As she progresses through this twisted landscape, she uncovers hidden history—about the school, and about herself.

This game is a real anachronism, running on the back of Eamon written over three decades prior, and runs through packed-in Apple II emulation.  As such, it suffers from some of the technical constraints of the puny machines of yesteryear, but the game design benefits from a more mature understanding of the survival horror genre than was possible in the early ‘80s.  Eamon‘s RPG system is always present in the background, and its randomized combat outcomes are a major departure for modern IF players, though to some there is nostalgia value in it.
