After the ship they were on was steered off course, four prisoners find themselves shipwrecked on the secluded Isle of Nex. If they are to have any hope of escape, they must explore their surroundings, defeat the numerous enemies blocking their way, solve riddles and puzzles and overcome all other obstacles devised by the island’s unknown master.
While still embodying the spirit of old-school grid-based dungeon crawlers, Legend of Grimrock 2 doesn’t limit itself to decrepit dungeons and tight tunnels, unlike its predecessor. Those, as well as other indoor areas, obviously still exist, but this time around a significant part of the game takes place in open outdoor areas, characters being able to travel around the island as they wish, assuming of course that they’re capable of surviving the enemies, traps and other dangers they’ll encounter on their way.
When creating the party, seven classes and five races are available, but the character development system allows for a high degree of freedom from that point forward, giving the player the chance to customize their party according to their needs and preferences. In addition, weapon-specific special attacks can now be performed, but these along with all other active and passive skills and traits will need to be properly used by those hoping to survive the dangers found on the Isle of Nex, especially since many enemies have tricks up their sleeves as well.
A Dungeon Editor is included, allowing players to create custom adventures.
