RPG Gamers summary

Lost In The Open is a tactical turn-based strategy roguelike game set in a low-fantasy medieval world. You play as Nrvesk, a once-bloody and oppressive ruler now on the run from assassination attempts by his former allies. Along with two loyal guards, you’ll navigate through unforgiving terrains, fighting off enemies and negotiating with strangers to survive and make your way back to your kingdom.

The combat in Lost In The Open takes place on a tile-based grid that provides various tactical options and can be challenging. You’ll need to plan every action on the battlefield to ensure your warband remains strong enough to survive, as your party’s health does not regenerate between combats. You can upgrade your units’ abilities, skills, and equipment by defeating enemies, aiding strangers, and trading with merchants.

The game is designed to be challenging, and the enemies will pull you out of position, lure you into traps, and work as a team to flank you. Apart from combat decisions, navigating through the landscape is a challenge in itself, as the people are in unanimous hatred for Nrvesk’s past crimes.

The game is filled with narrative choices, each with their respective risks and rewards, that can affect both your short-term and long-term plans. You’ll have to choose from various locations to go to and make low-risk, medium-risk, and high-risk decisions to collect resources, like gold and equipment.

Lost In The Open immerses players into a medieval world filled with danger and uncertainty at every turn. It is a game that commands strategic thinking, where each character in your party could spell the difference between surviving or becoming a fallen victim.
