In this multiple-choice game, the player makes decisions on the behalf of the leader of a lance (a tactical grouping) of combat armatures—powered humanoid exosuits—fighting Imperial forces in the back reaches of outer space on behalf of CoDEC, a rebellious consortium of remote colonies seeking to slip the yoke of tyranny. A ripping interstellar war yarn unfolds across nine episodes and several interludes, in which the player will be charged with escorting civilian transports to safety from their base on the CWS Caliburn, recovering a top-secret project that could turn the tide of the campaign, clashing against an aristocratic enemy duellist, surviving the unleashing of an enemy superweapon that threatens to end the war for good, and undergoing torture and interrogation as a prisoner behind enemy lines. And if all that wasn’t enough, the game presents several options for gender-randomized romance and an achievement system, presenting a compelling rationale for considerable replay!
The game follows the Choice of Games standard, with game output presented in the form of long textual passages concluding with choices posed to the player, not just inviting them to sway the narrative one way or another, but challenging them to run their selected option up against the RPG-style skill profile they’ve been quietly building under the hood with their previous choices.
