This pay to play MMORPG was one of the first to be popular in Korea in 1996 then it was translated for the U.S. market in 1998. It’s loosely based on Korean mythology and artist Kim Jin’s series of graphic novels. There are three kingdoms (Koguryo, Buya, Nagnang) with 3 villages each that players can reside in. You can rent a house and accessorize it to your taste.
You can choose different character development paths and clans which are based in the different kingdoms. There are four main character types: warriors, rogues, mages, and poets. Koguryo is home to the Chongun, Diviner, Merchant, Monk and Spy player subpaths as well as SunMoon, Bear, Enigma, Oceana, Destiny and Tiger Clans. It also has the Royal Koguryian Army and the Royal Ministry of Koguryo.
Buya contains the Do, Muse and Shaman player subpaths as well as Heavens, Phoenix, LostKingdom, Dharma, Elendhirin and SanSin Clans. It has the Buyan Imperial Army and the Imperial Ministry of Buya. Nagnang currently has no player subpaths but does house the Alizarin, Covenant, Forsaken, K’urimja, Pegasus, Silla, and Viper Clans. The Wilderness, which is a vast expanse owned by no one, has the Barbarian, Druid, Geomancer and Ranger subpaths.
You can make your character unique with different armor dyes, armor types, hair choices, hair colors, character models, and weapons. As you gain experience you will level up your stats in health, mana, strength, magic and agility. You can hold influential positions in the community such as judges, tutors, archons, carnage hosts, subpath guides, elders, ministers, clan councilors, primogens, Pawns and Archons, and also Game Masters. The game is free-to-play up to level 49, then you must either pay a monthly fee or purchase in-game currency to purchase items.
