Paladin’s Legacy is a fantasy-themed RPG for the TRS-80 CoCo.

Two hundred years ago, the land of Tarnith was divided into three nations: the forest-dwelling Elves, the mountain-loving dwarves, and and the Humans who sought the grasslands.  To this land began the appearance of a number of horrible twisted creatures which decimated the lands of the three races.

Suddenly, a stranger arrived.  His knowledge of magical arts and swordsmanship seemed unlimited.  With these tools, he was able to put the evil creatures to slaughter, and spent his remaining days teaching the arts to the three races.

In time this stranger passed, and he was remembered as the Paladin.  Over time, the three races began to draw apart once more.  The creatures have once again begun to appear, and the King of the land has been kidnapped by the forces of darkness.  The player must rescue the lost monarch and reunite the land of Tarnith.

At the beginning of each game, the player creates a new character, spreading 60 attribute points between strength, dexterity, intelligence, and wisdom.  The player moves about from a top-down perspective, and can enter various castles and towns from the overland map.  The player can talk to the various inhabitants of Tarnith for clues to solve puzzles.  Food, armor, weapons, and healing potions can be purchased from various stores.  Every 1000 experience points, the player can visit the Queen of Tarnith to level up, which increases maximum hitpoints.

In combat, the player and monster takes turns exchanging blows until one is destroyed.
