Phantom Knight: Mugen no Meikyū 3 - Type S (2003)

Windows

Game Details

Two years have passed since the mysterious Phantom Labyrinth emerged in the desert. One day, a young adventurer seeking for excitement and riches met a mysterious traveler. He did not remember his own name and, before disappearing, told the astonished youth to go and seek out the Desert City. There the adventurer encountered the unique civilization of Ge-Pang and ventured into the depths of its dungeons.

Type S is the third installment in the Mugen no Meikyū series. It is similar to its predecessors gameplay-wise, being a real-time dungeon-crawling role-playing game with randomized locations and items. The hero can equip various weapons and armor, and cast spells by finding wands with limited charges. Equipment can be combined to increase its efficiency. Female characters would sometimes join the protagonist and fight alongside him. Towns can now be physically navigated. Unlike the two previous entries in the series, the game has 3D graphics, though it retains the top-down look of the predecessors and has no zooming or camera rotation.
