RPG Gamers summarySaturday Morning RPG is a nostalgic-inspired episodic Japanese Roleplaying Game (JRPG) that takes players back to the world of 1980s Saturday morning cartoons and pop culture. Players step into the shoes of the protagonist Martin “Marty” Michael Hall, an average high-school student who has just received extraordinary powers. Marty’s powers lead him to face off with the infamous villain, Commander Hood. Featuring a full soundtrack by the renowned composer Vince DiCola and his partner Kenny Meriedeth, the gameplay is episodic, and players can choose to play any episode they wish, in any order, allowing for a unique spin on New Game Plus mode. Additionally, the game’s story and items carry over between episodes making for more personalized gameplay. Battles are turn-based in the style of the popular Nintendo Paper Mario series, with players using everyday objects to summon magic to defeat enemies. Everything about the game revolves around nostalgia, from Marty’s inspiration for receiving his magical abilities to the enemies he faces, all drawn from Saturday morning cartoons. Saturday Morning RPG also features an endless battle mode where players face waves of enemies and optional arena battles against powerful enemies. The game is fully controller-supported and features achievements and trading cards.
