Sryth is a mostly text-based, story-heavy online medieval fantasy RPG with limited graphics (including dungeon maps for better navigation). Characters are created by rolling their stats and later assigning skills. The characters don’t increase their level, but rather get points to spend on various skills, with each skill level demanding more points than the last. Your skills cover a large variety of melee weapons, magic schools and survival-related knowledge and abilities (such as seafaring or horseback riding). Characters may train themselves further in various locations, acquire items, complete many quests (from hidden minor ones, to standard secondary quest, to major tasks that will take you through the entire continent) and discover the game world.
The game plays as a combination of a Choose-Your-Adventure game and a standard pen&paper RPG. Some situation require you to choose a preferred response out of a number presented, with your success, or even the availability of the option depends on your skill level. Combat is conducted by comparing your overall combat prowess (as defined by a combination of your attributes, relevant skills and items) to the combat rating of your opponent and then rolling a dice to determine hit success and damage. Players can additionally use spells and combat items to give them an edge over their opponents. The game is almost entirely single player, but some encounters that require more than one player exist.
