Game Details

The Inside World is a single-player, shareware, role-playing game. The shareware version of the game has three levels while the registered ‘Professional’ version has ten.

The story behind the game is based on five college students. Their professor is a typical eccentric genius who experiments with insects and radiation in his spare time. What the students didn’t know is that the prof’s family have been performing experiments for ages in their castle which just happens to be under their dorm. One day one of the students comes across an entrance to the underworld so he and his four companions decide to investigate. The objectives of the game are to explore the dungeons, kill all the bad things therein, discover treasure and escape.

This is a top-down game with all the action taking place in a small window in the top central half of the screen. Though the player has five characters they do not work as a team, if one character dies another takes their place, usually in the same place but without the weapons, armour or equipment. The dungeons are, naturally, mazelike in their construction with plenty of locked doors, and items to pick up. The character’s inventory system is split with general items going into a backpack, and separate items for keys, ammunition etc while weapons and protective clothing are added to the character directly.
